Koshcoons Raw Food Information

INGREDIENTS

MEAT: PORK, CHIX, BEEF, OR TURKEY

We use anything from pork shoulder, pork ribs, chicken backs, thighs, and drumsticks, beef steaks or roasts, and turkey thighs. Any cut of meat can be used to make raw!

HEART (optional): This counts as part of the meat ingredients. Any hard working muscle is considered meat and not organ along with gizzards. Heart is very scarce to source and is not an absolute necessary ingredient.

LIVER: chicken is preferred due to being less gamey, but any others can be used.

OTHER ORGAN(optional): KIDNEY, PANCREAS, BRAIN ETC: They are all very rich and gamey. Newly fed cats on raw can vomit when first getting used to these items. We have used these all in the past with no issues but only use brain now when we can find it.

BONE: CHIX OR TURKEY NECKS, CHIX BACKS, CHIX DRUMSTICKS: These must be ground up in your batch. You may use ground eggshells instead of bone. Note: if raising small kittens, real bone is a must for their growth and development. (Rule for Eggshells: ½ TSP per pound of meat)

RAW EGGS: Yolks contain the bulk of the nutrition with almost every essential vitamin/mineral a cat needs

CANNED SARDINES OR MACKEREL: provides needed OMEGA 3s and fatty acids

***THERE IS NO EXACT RECIPE TO GO BY, WE USE THE RAW CALCULATOR FOUND IN THE CAT CRAP GROUP THAT USES AN EXCEL SHEET TO CALCULATE YOUR RECIPE BASED ON WHAT MEAT YOU HAVE SO IT ALWAYS VAIRES***

SUPPLEMENTS

All supplements are optional. If using the raw fed calculator your batch will already be balanced and complete. Listed below are just some of the things that can be added safely if you would like extra nutrition for your cat when pregnant or sick etc. and what they are used for. Sometimes I still add a few of these to a batch for extra nutrients!

These measurements are per 3.0 POUNDS of meat, increase the quantity if you make in larger batches! Also if this is your first time using these supplements you must reduce your quantity added significantly or you will cause digestive upset and maybe vomiting until your kitty gets used to these. We started small and started working our way up each month to the full amounts. Some you may want to stay with smaller quantities based on your kitties preferences. All of these are merely suggestions with some being essential. I wanted to make the most potent raw superfood I could for my kitties is why I choose these. When I first started the raw journey, I used EZ Complete (we stopped because most the kitties would not eat this). It is a dry powder that you add to raw that provides all nutrients needed. I wanted to create my own recipe that incorporated most of these when I began making raw and over the years it has changed and we have added and taken away things. The supplements below most closely resemble what they deem important for raw additives.
